Dead Rabbits: Alive & Thriving

We’re here, rabbits, and we’re just getting started.

We’ve come a long way since our humble beginnings as a reading series in New York. What started as a community of misfit bunnies has blossomed into this awesome community of creatives, writers, readers, and artists. In fact, Dead Rabbits Co-Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Katie (M.K.) Rainey, recently wrote about our journey from a reading series to a press in an essay over at Literary Hub.

We couldn’t have made these great strides without you, our rabbit community. So we thank you for your continued support as we take the next step in our literary endeavor.

There’s a lot in the works for Dead Rabbits. In addition to the press, we’ve launched a podcast, taken steps to create other reading series and artist salons in Seattle, Baltimore, and Little Rock, worked with a number of artists to create content, merchandise, and eventually book covers for future releases, and are working on our “Dead Rabbits Gives” initiative, which will pair our authors with impassioned causes in order to bring their work — and the love of art — into more communities.

Our first title is due out on September 15th, 2019: Emerald City by Brian Birnbaum, followed by second and third titles come 2020. Additionally, we’ll be open for submissions during Summer 2019.

We hope you’ll explore the website and check out our goods & doings. However, our focus isn’t just books, it’s community too. We don’t expect readers to merely consume our output. We want you involved. So if you’ve got an idea for the press, a community endeavor, or something totally out there, we’d love to hear it. Shoot us an email and let’s talk. Or if you’d rather check us out in person and talk then, our next Dead Rabbits Reading in NYC will be on January 20th. Come by for the prose, poetry, & MadLibs, but stay for the post-reading shots & conversation. We’ll be there. Hope to see you then.

Peace & Rabbit Ears,

The Dead Rabbits Team
