Poetry Prize for an Emerging Woman Poet: Deadline March 15th

Ears up, Poetry Rabbits! Our friends over at Small Orange Journal are running their first contest for an emerging woman poet. We highly suggest you submit! This is a fantastic publication and a great honor.

For National Poetry Month, Small Orange Journal invites women-identifying emerging poets from the tri-state area to submit poems for our inaugural Emerging Woman Poet Honor. The submission fee is $5.00 for up to five pages of poetry. This fee will support the $100.00 honorarium for the winning poet, as well as a donation to the nonprofit organization, Girls Write Now, in the winning poet’s name.

The winning poet and two honorable mentions will be published in the April Issue of Small Orange and will be invited to read their work at our April launch and fundraiser for Girls Write Now. All entries will be considered for publication in a future issue of Small Orange. The editors will judge.

  • Poet must live in the tri-state area (New York, Connecticut, New Jersey)

  • Poet may submit up to five pages of previously unpublished work

  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted as long as you notify us immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere
